Following this exciting news we have opened up an initial $100 deposit for the camper and topper to secure your place in line. Production for Rivian products are slated to begin in August 2024.

We are designing the Rivian R1T Camper to have great fit and function while attempting to maintain all features on the vehicle. Updates will be provided during the remainder of the design process.

How is the Camper mounted?
The Camper is currently mounted using the four bed tie-down brackets located on the rails of the truck bed.

Will I be able to use the Rivian GearGuard?
There are still features that we are working to design around such as the rear spoiler camera system.

Will the Camper block access to my gear tunnel or tonneau / tailgate buttons?
The gear tunnel, tonneau and tailgate button functions will be accessible. We will be providing further in depth details to how exactly this will be accomplished, once more testing is completed.

Rivian R1T Pre-Order Explained

Initial agreement:

Since the R1T Camper and Topper are still in development, we would like to take a moment to explain the full ordering process in greater detail before you make a deposit. By completing this deposit, you are locking in your place in a queue of customers also ordering Campers and Toppers for the Rivian R1T. This is a separate queue from our normal build queue.

The final design and pricing are both subject to change, so we are choosing to accept deposits initially rather than a full payment. Once we have the design and pricing finalized, and we are ready to start production, we will reach out to the R1T queue to start scheduling builds. We will reach out to the R1T queue in the order deposits were received, so that we can work with you to collect your choices of option configurations (like panel colors), and to then get you a final invoice.

We plan to add 4 additional build spots per week to the normal build schedule, and those extra spots will be specifically for R1T customers. Customers will not pay their invoice until after your choice of configuration has been confirmed and your build slot has been scheduled.

• We are still working on some elements of the design, such as the height above the cab roof and how that affects the shark fin antenna, which is important for receiving OTA updates on your R1T. We are also working on ways to keep the buttons on the bed rails accessible so you can still operate your tonneau cover, tailgate, and gear tunnel features using those buttons.

Designing the Rivian R1T Camper

Construction

“The Platform Camper adds only a few inches to the total height of the R1T, while its space-frame contruction only adds about 270 pounds to the back your truck. These design choices make the GFC Camper lighter and more aerodynamic than most, helping to maintain the all-important range of your R1T.

The Roof

The half inch-thick white honeycomb composite roof reflects solar radiation and provides air gap insulation, which is then complimented by an additional four inches of foam and fabric from the folded tent, plus another inch of composite in the sleeping area floor. Combined with side access panels that can be securely cracked open for increased airflow, this keeps your truck bed much cooler than is possible with traditional topper or camper designs.

All-in-One Topper and Camper

When you’re not camping, the Platform Camper doubles as both a truck bed topper and roof rack, adding cab-height lockable space to the bed, and the ability to carry long, heavy objects on the roof. Add the optional GFC Beef Rack crossbars, and you can permanently mount solar panels beneath the load surface, enabling you to safely carry loads above them. A T-track load halo surrounds the roof’s entire perimeter, and is designed to mount anything from lightbars, to awnings, to radio aerials.
