GoFastCampers is today announcing the release of the first camper, and first bed cap engineered to fit the Rivian R1T. The camper brings an eight-foot tall internal living space to the R1T’s 4.5-foot long bed, while the topper doubles the vehicle’s secure cargo volume, and both allow long objects to be carried on the electric truck’s roof.

Batteries still aren’t anywhere close to gasoline in terms of energy density. So, even tiny changes on an EV can drastically reduce range. So how many miles will a GFC on a Rivian cost you? Probably less than you think.

Rivian ambassador and adventure photographer Ben Moon now has 1,300 miles on the prototype camper we installed on his R1T last month. He reports that, versus a naked truck, the GFC reduces range by approximately 10 percent. And while that number is already twice as good as the Yakima rooftop tent and bed rack that Rivian sells as an official accessory, it’s not good enough for us.
