The response to the new GFC Platform Camper V2 Pro has been enormously positive. Thanks to feedback from you guys, our customers, we were able to roll out a series of improvements that makes the Pro substantially more convenient, and much more comfortable. But, we can’t say we listened unless we also listened to your desire for an upgrade path for existing owners.
Available to owners of both V1 and V2 versions of the camper and rooftop tent, GFC will be offering both a comprehensive V2 Pro Upgrade Pack, including all the following items, and each of these parts individually.
July 30, 2024 Update: the Pro Accessories page and product pages are now live, with pricing.
Compared to V2, the new V2 Pro tent body incorporates a 69.5 percent larger viewing area, 52.5 percent more ventilation area, and 37.5 percent more door area. The rear door also zips open from both the top and bottom, all zippers are now a smooth-running coil design, all doors zip closed on all sides, and the zipper pulls don’t rattle in wind.
Importantly, the fabric also incorporates vents on each side of the tent’s top-most points that always remain open, but are shielded from weather by full-coverage hoods. These passively vent warm, moist air on their own, preventing condensation. And, when used in conjunction with the tent’s other windows, actively draw dry, cool air through the camper.
All windows and vents are now backed by no-see-um mesh. These combine with GFC’s fully-enclosed sleeping area to keep bugs out, even when the truck bed is open.
Including four light strips that mount inside the “downstairs” to illuminate your truck bed, and single strip that mounts inside the ceiling of your tent, these fully-potted LEDs switch between red and warm white, and dim. The kit includes independent switches for upstairs and downstairs, so each area can be switched on and off, and operated independently.
While the new latches from V2 Pro wouldn’t be compatible with existing panels or space frames, we do plan to offer existing customers an upgrade kit that will be substantially more robust, and easier to use. This will incorporate new lock cores and injection molded covers that will fit your existing latches.
The non-woven marine polyester fabric is designed to work like a good set of technical base layers, capturing moisture and spreading it out so it can quickly evaporate. It also helps keep the interior of the tent darker during daylight hours so you can sleep in, or take an afternoon nap, and provides a convenient place to attach hook-and-loop accessories like storage pouches or collectible patches.
The Headliner conveniently detaches from your ceiling in three panels, should you need to dry it, or access the composite ceiling.
Orders for both the complete kit and a la carte items will open August 1st, and will be fulfilled on a first come, first serve basis. Pricing, a fulfillment schedule, and installation options will be available at that time.
GFC is flat out building new campers as fast as we can. Lead times will vary. Lights, headliners and lock cores will ship as soon as they are available and we are building inventory for the on-sale date. Producing tent bodies is a much more involved process.

Regarding the V2 Pro upgrades, I just had my GFC installed 05/22/24, and was wondering how much would a tent replacement be? or would it matter how close I had my GFC installed depending on price?

So the upgrade kits that just launched today, they say that they are for upgrading your V2 tent into a V2 Pro. Is this the same for us V1 original owners or is there different stuff coming later for us?
