All three access panels (one on each side and one in the rear) are made from 5052 aluminum and feature two locks per panel for added security. Our new locks were designed specifically for off-road applications and feature an improved dust flap to protect the core from gumming up (something that was sometimes an issue with our old locks), a smoother action, and the new key design allows the key to be inserted in either orientation for hassle-free actuation. Optional weather covers ensure reliable latching even in extreme weather and dusty environments. 

The panels open using our proprietary Embassy Hinge design. It’s modeled after the hinges used in US embassies and noted for its ability to resist forced entry via gunfire. Needless to say, it’s the strongest hinge on the market and we’ve never had one fail. Overkill? Maybe. But that’s one less thing to worry about when you’re dodging cactus down in Baja or threading rocks on the Rubicon.

A truck bed’s not that useful if you can’t access your stuff. The GFC Platform Topper offers total access to all three sides of your truck bed. And we’re not talking about a little access port. We’re talking the *entire* side opens up. So much so that we have a special name for it: Cabana Mode.

And all that massive opening means you can easily access anything in your bed with ease. The opening is bigger than it looks in pictures. Even with the bracing, you can still pass a full sized cooler through the side on most models.

Plus, the panels offer up some instant weather protection, whether that's shade from the hot sun or an eave to shelter you from the rain. The side access is often mentioned as people’s favorite thing about their day-to-day experience with the topper.

Our Toppers are optimized first and foremost for durability. We want you to be able to drive your truck anywhere you want (no matter how modified your truck is) and not have to worry about your Topper. That’s why we use the same design approach as nearly every professional off-road race team: the space frame.

When you open up our Topper you’ll see triangulated bracing on every side. That’s what lets us create a shockingly durable structure in the same weight class as its fiberglass counterparts, but which can hold up a truck without collapsing. That’s no small feat. Again, maybe that’s overkill. But our mission is to remove any limitations on the driving experience. And we want our Toppers to last a long, long time. So overkill it is.

Our optional front and rear tempered automotive grade windows allow you to still use your rearview mirror. Choose to run any combination of front and rear windows for different levels of security and privacy.

Running both windows allows increased visibility into the Topper from both the cab and from outside, and lets you retain the use of your rear view mirror while driving; running only the front window gives you a view into the cargo area from the cab while maintaining security and privacy from the outside; running only the rear window allows easy inspection of cargo from outside; running no windows offers the best in security and total privacy for the cargo area.

The space frame comes standard with architectural-grade black anodizing and will withstand a lifetime of abuse.

And the lower panels come powder coated in one of nine different color options. Choose a color to match your wheels, or your own personal aesthetic. Red is for the daring. Or just get black, which is what most of our customers do because it goes with everything.

Every Topper comes standard with our off-road bed mounting system. Billet-machined tube clamps specifically tailored to your truck model keep the Topper firmly locked in place, even when driving gets a little spicy.

Compared to standard topper and camper mounts, the GFC mounts provide way more beef, grade 8 hardware, and are ready to charge the whoops (even if your truck’s not). Say goodbye to shifting toppers and broken mounts.

And when you order a Topper and pick it up at our headquarters in Montana or at one of our eight nationwide locations, we install it for you in around half an hour.

The Topper's roof sits just below the maximum cab height for a sleek look and gas-saving aerodynamics when not carrying loads on the roof.

Add BEEF Rack bars to achieve an additional 2.5" of height that clears the cab, so you can carry long loads safely within the vehicle's wheelbase.

We believe that the biggest downside to any slide-in camper, trailer, or RV is that they are no fun to drive with. A truck is an incredible tool for exploration. The drive should be just as much fun as the destination.

Installation at GFC HQ:
Arrive to our installation showroom at the date and time you scheduled when you purchased and enjoy a drink while you watch your Topper be installed. Experience your new build for the first time with an expert walkthrough, add any accessories you may want, and you're off on your first adventure with your new GFC!

Installation at a Partner Shop:
Your Topper is loaded into a trailer with the destination of your chosen installation shop, on the exact date confirmed in your welcome email. This date is the same as the current shipping date(s) in the lead-time table.

Keep your entire truck bed free of clutter with our Cabinet System. Divided bays and adjustable shelves let you organize your gear into cubbies so you don’t have to spend time strapping things down, even off road.

The Cabinet System can be ordered with your Platform Topper and installed with it, or flat-packed and shipped to your door for easy DIY assembly and installation on any V2 Platform Topper or Camper.

It is affixed to the lower frame by utilizing the upper well-nut holes (upgraded to Plus Nuts), and a steel mount that is captive between the upper and lower bed mounts. These mounting rails allow for easy installation and removal of the cabinet by 1-2 people, and provide rigidity to the system.

The GFC Platform Topper's roof is surrounded in T-tracks that allow you to bolt all kinds of things to your Topper. Our T-nut system allows attachment at any point without having to slide a nut in from the end of the track.

With an ever-growing ecosystem (GFC and aftermarket) of accessories, if you can think it, you can mount it. Easily and sturdily mount awnings, lights, pull down straps, ladders, roof rack bars, solar panels, and who knows what else. T-tracks make it possible and the GFC has a lot of them.

Our BEEF Rack crossbars were designed specifically for our Platform products. They feature a beefy cross section for load stability off-road and have T-slots for attaching accessories, just like the Topper.

They also sit low to the Topper roof, adding only 2.5” to the overall height. And they have no protrusions sticking up above the bar, making it easy to load and unload large items such as lumber and boats from the rack.

Just like our Toppers, our accessories are made from a lot of machined billet parts. Awning mounts (shown here), QD attachment points and pull straps, light mounts, etc. all feature race-car level components not typically found on a consumer topper.

It’s the details that matter and GFC accessories have no peer.
