Diesel Heater Kit

CAMP ALL WINTER!

Turn your pickup truck into a hot tent with the new GFC Diesel Heater Kit.

Developed in collaboration with Eberspächer, this fully integrated 4kW diesel heating system mounts directly to your GFC’s space frame, with its own fuel tank and everything you need to keep the cold outside.

Affectionately known internally as the Shelter Melter, this bad puppy puts out some serious heat. In testing, we’ve seen 60–70°F warmer temperatures inside the tent than outside, without any insulation.

No more freezing nights. Just a warm camper, dry ski gear, and more time spent on adventures instead of sitting at home or shelling out for expensive hotels.

Compatible with all V2 Campers: Max, Pro, and Classic. Not available for V1.

We’ll be offering the heater first to V2 Max customers who ordered the heater prep kit, followed by V2 Pro and Classic customers.

We’ll reach out when it’s your turn to order. Until then, register your interest below so we know how many of y’all are interested. Lead time will be a function of demand, but we will begin shipping units in the next 4 weeks.

Starting at $3,199.00 USD

Diesel Heater Installation Guide

FAQs

Do I need an insulation kit?

No. That's kind of the point.

We intentionally chose a very powerful heater for the size of a GFC. In our testing, we've consistently measured a 60-70°F difference between ambient temperature and the inside of the tent without insulation.

Insulation can still make sense if you're camping in genuinely extreme conditions, but it isn't a prerequisite for getting out when it's cold.

How quickly does it heat the camper?

You'll start feeling warm air within minutes. The 4kW heater has considerably more output than is typically required to heat a space this size, allowing it to bring a cold camper up to temperature quickly.

Can I control where the heat goes?

Yes. Our custom HVAC mixing valve lets you bias the airflow upstairs, downstairs, or anywhere in between.

Can I leave it running while I sleep?

Yes, when properly installed and operated according to the supplied instructions. The system includes a carbon monoxide detector, which must be properly installed and operational whenever the heater is being used.

Is it loud?

Not particularly. Quiet operation was one of the reasons we chose Eberspacher. The fuel pump is extremely quiet, with virtually none of the repetitive ticking associated with many inexpensive diesel heaters.

How long does a tank of diesel last?

In our cold-weather use, expect roughly 2-3 nights from the integrated 2.1-gallon tank. Actual consumption varies with temperature, thermostat setting, altitude and operating conditions.

How do I fill it?

Open the camper's side panel and fill the integrated aluminum tank. The tank is vented, and fuel level can be visually checked through the fill opening.

Does it add condensation to the camper?

No. Unlike an unvented propane heater, the system provides dry heat without introducing combustion moisture into the living space. That makes it particularly good for drying wet gear during cold or snowy trips.

What battery do I need?

A secondary 12V battery system is required. We recommend the Comvolt battery and offer a separate integration kit specifically for it. If you're building your own electrical system, the heater includes a Deutsch DTP connection and 10-foot flying lead.

Why does this cost more than a cheap diesel heater?

Because we wanted something we'd actually trust to run all night in a camper with our families.

The GFC system is built around an Eberspacher heater with automatic altitude compensation, exceptionally quiet
operation, proven reliability and access to Eberspacher's global service network. We've then engineered the tank, enclosure, mounting, exhaust, HVAC distribution, electrical harness and camper integration around it.

You install it once.

Then you start looking at the winter forecast differently.

Cold Camping Without the Suffering

The GFC Diesel Heater Kit is a complete, permanently mounted heating system designed specifically for V2 campers.

A custom low-profile enclosure mounts at the driver-side rear of the camper, inboard of the rear Mini Braces. Inside is an Eberspacher Airtronic M3 D4L 4kW diesel heater, a custom stainless heater mount, and a 2.1-gallon vented aluminum fuel tank.

Hot air is routed both upstairs and downstairs through our custom adjustable HVAC mixing valve. Send the heat upstairs while you're sleeping, downstairs while you're hanging out or drying gear, or split it between the two.

Warm air starts arriving within minutes.

And because it's diesel-fired heat, it doesn't add moisture to the camper. Instead, that dry heat can actually help dry wet boots, jackets, gloves and gear.

Diesel Heater Installed In Field

Why Diesel?

Propane works. It's also bulky, annoying to refill, and requires storing a tank of highly volatile pressurized gas.

Diesel is available at virtually every gas station, considerably less volatile, and packs a lot of energy into a small amount of space.

Our 2.1-gallon tank provides roughly 2-3 nights of heat in cold-weather use, without requiring an insulation kit.

Open the side panel to access the filler, fill it up, and go camping.

Diesel Heater (Eberspacher Heater Detail)

Why Eberspacher?

There are cheaper diesel heaters.

We weren't trying to build the cheapest diesel heater.

We worked with Eberspacher because they've spent decades building heaters that are reliable, quiet, safe, and serviceable. Their global service network means you're buying a heater that can actually be repaired rather than thrown away.

There's another benefit you'll appreciate around 2:00 AM: it's really quiet.

The Eberspacher fuel pump produces virtually none of the constant tick... tick...tick... associated with inexpensive diesel heaters.

Set the thermostat and go to sleep.

Oh, and it's altitude limited to 18,000 feet.

Sorry.

Built-in altitude compensation handles everything below that.

Diesel Heater

Designed Around Your GFC

This isn't an Eberspacher heater and a cardboard box full of parts.

The system includes the GFC-specific enclosure, stainless mounting system, aluminum fuel tank, ducting, adjustable upstairs/downstairs HVAC system, stainless exhaust, controller mounting, wiring, fuel system and installation hardware required to integrate the heater cleanly into your camper.

The enclosure stays permanently mounted through normal driving and weather while remaining extremely low-profile. Its integrated MOLLE surface also gives you a useful place to mount accessories instead of sacrificing that wall space to the heater.

The system is serviceable and can be relatively easily removed if necessary.

Power

The Diesel Heater Kit requires a secondary 12V battery system with an in-line 15A breaker to operate.

We strongly recommend the Comvolt battery, for which we offer a separate purpose-built integration kit.

Want to build your own power system? That's fine too. The heater harness comes terminated with a Deutsch DTP connector, and we include a 10-foot flying lead for integration into a DIY secondary-battery system.

Typical running draw is approximately 0.5-4.5 amps, with up to 10 amps during startup.

Compatibility

Compatible with V2 Max, V2 Pro, and V2 Classic.

V2 Max uses the camper's existing constant pass-through to deliver heat upstairs. V2 Pro and V2 Classic kits include a half-size floor panel that allows heated air to pass into the tent.

Installation is DIY and typically takes a few hours. Campers without the Diesel Heater Prep Kit will require holes to be cut in the side panel. A complete installation video will walk you through the process.
